Bahama Mama & Martin Mon are proud of da coat of arms of da Bahamas. It contains a shield with da national symbols as its focal point, da shield is supported by a marlin and flamingo. On top da shield is a conch shell, that represents da varied marine life of da island chain. This rests upon a helmet which is restin' on da actual shield. Da main symbol on da shield is da Santa María ship of Christopher Columbus. It is sailing beneath a sun. The animals supporting the shield are the national animals, and the national motto is found at the bottom. The flamingo is located upon land, and the marlin upon sea, indicating the geography of the islands.
The vibrant colors of the coat of arms are also intended to point to a bright future for the islands. We think dat bright future includes us doing well at de upcomin' Olympics!! We decided our team motto should be da same as our national motto:
"Forward, Upward, Onward Together"!!
